Pinup Clothes

Pinup Clothes

Pinup clothes are a popular style, typically reflecting the apparel worn during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s eras. Since pinup couture can technically cover a wide range of decades, the fashion and styles are incredibly diverse.

The diversity of pinup clothes is one of the reasons why it is so popular, along with the fact that the gorgeous, flirty and feminine styles come with a timeless feel that shows off any woman’s natural body and beauty.

Pinup clothes range from flowy swing skirts to pencil skirts, button-down collared shirts to sexy halter tops, sky-high stiletto heels to penny loafers. Polka dots, leopard print, bold primaries and white embroidered edges complement plenty of pinup clothes, ranging from tame, conservative dresses and tops to flashy, sultry and seductive body suits.

If you’re looking to add a little pinup couture to your wardrobe but just don’t know where to start, there is a huge variety of online boutiques for you to check out. For starters, PinUp Girl Clothing is one of the main sources for all things pin up. Miss Hussy Clothing is an Australian based boutique with a variety of pin up and retro couture as well, while What Katie Did specializes in all things pin up and vintage. If you’re looking to add a little military inspiration to your wardrobe, check out Pony Maedchen. For more of a rockabilly edge, Starlets & Harlets and Stop Staring Clothing are two popular boutiques. It’s important to remember that no pin up outfit is complete without the perfect undergarments. Purrfect Pineapples specializes in vintage, rockabilly and Pin up lingerie. If you’re a bathing beauty with a penchant for pinup clothes, For Luna Swimwear and The Red Dolly are two swimwear boutiques that specialize in everything retro and vintage.

To complement your pinup clothes, it is integral to have the right look and attitude. Pinup couture takes confidence, whether you’re a size XXS or XXL. Finish off your look with some bold cat-eye liner, bright red lips, mountainous and voluptuous curls, and a spritz of your favorite perfume. Don’t be afraid to strut it and let the fierce goddess in you rule the look.

Tokyo Motor Grrrl

Tokyo Motor Grrrl

Tokyo Motor Grrl is an online pin up, retro and rockabilly themed online store with a slight Asian racer theme to the products. However, don’t let the name fool you; you don’t have to be from the east or into cars in order to obsess over their wide variety of clothing and accessories.

Between the dresses, corsets, handbags and accessories, girls with a penchant for pin up couture, anchor-themed accessories and a hint of racing stripes will find their products to be exciting and perfect for them and their personal style.

One of the most exciting categories of Tokyo Motor Grrrl clothing is the “playsuit” section. High-waisted short shorts attached to a bodacious halter top body suit are available in polka dots, leopard print, stripes and even two pieced styles for the classic pin up style we all know and love. Imagine the iconic pin up girls of the 1950s seductively leaning over a 1967 Mustang; if you’ve always wondered where to find that adorable body suit, you can find it right here.

We can’t forget about the corsets. All Tokyo Motor Grrrl corsets are handmade to fit your body perfectly. No two are alike and their skilled seamstresses can create one that will fit you like a glove, all you have to provide is your measurements. Their sizes range from “petite” to “bodacious” to “luscious,” so if you’re thinking you could never pull off a corset due to your size, think again. Tokyo Motor Grrrl can make it.

Pin Up Clothing

Ooh-la-la and va-va-VOOM, all the men love ladies in pin up clothing costumes! If they say they don’t, they are lying, plain and simple. Outfit: Pinup Couture – Thanks to Buy Unlike

From innocent girl-next-door housewife to sexy bombshell, the pin up look covers a wide range of personalities in amazingly figure-flattering designs.

Now the stick-thin mod styles of the 1960s and the lean and lanky look for ladies of the 1970s are all well and good for females who like to look pre-adolescent, but if you want to feel like a Real Woman then you need to get your curves on. A girdle, corset or a bullet bra from shops like Secrets in Lace, FairyGothMother or Playful Promises give structure to your shape, and some retro heels like the Ellie Shoes Penthouse Collection Open Toe Pinup Girl Heels sold at Baby Girl Boutique give your legs and bum a lovely lift. Don’t forget your seamed stockings like those sold at Ars Vivendi. With their long line leading up your legs and underneath your skirt they give all the gents about a bit of wonder and intrigue.

Do you like to feel truly sexy and have all eyes lock on you as you sashay across a room? Buy a sassy wiggle dress like the Sugar Dress in Red with Black Cherries from Collectif sold at Pinup Girl Clothing. A true wiggle dress has a hem narrower than its hip and this tiny base is what keeps the ladies’ legs together at the knee and creates the classic wiggle walk.

Whether you are tall and skinny or have girth and a full rear, there is no need for despair because pin up clothing will make you fair!

Based in Tonawanda, an upstate New York town, husband and wife team Julie Ann and Andrew Davis are going global with their selection of hand-picked, vintage-inspired ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s-style clothing with brands like Bettie Page Clothing, Cupcake Provocateur, Leg Avenue, Lolita Girl Clothing, Lucky 13, Zombie Kitten, Retro a-go-go!, Mode Merr and much more to choose from.

Offered not only in their store but also on their online shop of the same name, Cats Like Us is committed to providing high-quality apparel designed and made locally in the United States. They even collaborate with local designers like Dolly Valentine to come up with exclusive lines offered nowhere else.

Retro for the whole family, Cats Like Us carries threads not just for swing kings and zombie mommas but also for their little ones. Founders Julie Ann and Andrew’s original concept was to start a true vintage clothing store but soon realized that the difficulty finding and restoring honest-to-goodness vintage apparel combined with the fact that people are far larger than they used to be would mean that their shop would be sparsely populated with prohibitively priced clothing that catered only to the truly tiny members of the retro population.

Undaunted, they took a trip to a Las Vegas vintage-inspired clothing trade show and discovered scads of modern retro-style brands made with contemporary breathable fabrics in sizes up XXL. Inspired, the duo directly went about creating their current shop, and now Cats Like Us has one of the largest inventories of different retro brands around, both indie and well-known.

Cats Like Us currently ships within the United States and Canada as well as Europe, Australia and New Zealand via USPS Priority Mail. They accept returns on selected un-worn, non-sale items with tags intact within 30 days of the original purchase, although they will consider returns after 30 days with a 30% percent restocking fee applied.

In-store pickup is another option for those shopping on their website, and while you are there take the opportunity to browse through their Tonawanda boutique!
