Retro ladies and pin up kittens if you go nuts for handcrafted, one-of-a-kind retro-style clothing inspired by 1950s fashions then you will love the indie label Overdue from designer Tatjana Overdick.
Started in 2006 and growing day-by-day, each item is constructed with a great attention to detail and the virtual guarantee that each piece is unique.
All Overdue garments are designed as part of a series, which allow customers to put together complete, demi-couture outfits without searching high and low. The beautiful “Cherry Dream” Dress in tight-fitting black satin decorated with black and red embroidery plus an edging of red brocade is perfect for vampy bombshells and can be accessorized with a matching bolero and garter belt, while the rockabella pencil skirt “Magic Flowers” in embossed black satin will go perfectly with any retro top, from skull-decorated cardigans to teensy blouses or peasant shirts. With handbags, bodices, hair flowers, scarves and even glasses cases, Overdue has everything required for a total retro, rockabilly or pin up look.
A master, or rather mistress, tailor, Tatjana Overdick, always wanted to be a fashion designer and as a girl hand-made outfits for her Barbie dolls. As an adult, Overdick studied to become a seamstress then worked for over 5 years in musical theater costume design before branching out on her own. Sometimes known as Missy O, Tatjana lives in Herne but is from Dinslaken and is inspired by the unadulterated femininity and girlish charm inherent in classic 1950s styles. She believes that the little details are what make each garment she designs live up to those of her inspiration, and uses contemporary fabrics to construct her adaptations for optimal fit and comfort.
Overdue can be found at their DaWanda shop as well as on MySpace and at Wild Fifty as they develop their very own online shop. If you prefer, visit www.overdue.de, click the ‘Contact’ page and call or e-mail Tatjana Overdick directly for up-to-date information on collections and availability. Or, contact Overdue for custom designs and individual pieces based on your specifications for both men and women’s clothing, because Missy O loves to collaborate and at an average price of € 159.00 to €260.00 for a full outfit it is well worth the cost.
