In some ways, Daddy O’s 1950s-style shop owes its existence to the 1970s, when co-owner Bob Berry was a huge fan of the rock group Kiss. He collected a large amount of Kiss toys and memorabilia and when the band reunited briefly in 1995 he pulled it all out and sold each and every piece at a booth in an antiques show.
Inspired by this success, Christy and Bob started to root out and sell all their vintage and collectible items, including their vintage 1950s clothing. They eventually ran out of genuine vintage items, but realized that their loyal customers were happy to buy retro-style and vintage-inspired clothing, no matter when it had actually been made, as long as it looked authentic and was of high quality.
By 2001 they had begun to receive a lot of media attention, and while today they can boast ofcelebrities like Sarah Silverman wearing their clothing and of supplying costumes for the television show Smallville, they are still a small family business and Bob Berry himself still answers the Daddy O’s toll-free order line.
Daddy O’s accepts MasterCard, Visa and American Express payments either online or over the phone. They ship worldwide, with shipping costs and shipping time varying with the weight of the order, the delivery location and the preference of the customer – Whoopi Goldberg will often order 14 shirts at once to be shipped overnight.
They accept returns and exchanges on non-custom, unworn items with tags still on and intact in bag within 30 days of the sale date, but charge a 15% restock fee for any returns that are un-bagged or without tags.
